Arsenal will be locking up one of their key defenders for the long haul, as they have agreed to a long-term deal with Hector Bellerin.
The official Arsenal website confirmed the team’s signing of Bellerin in a statement.
The 20-year-old defender enjoyed a breakout year for the Gunners in the 2014-15 season, as he made 28 appearances.
In addition to showing plenty of defensive ability, Bellerin proved capable of scoring as he notched two goals for the Gunners.
The Spanish international has been with the Gunners since 2011, whom he spent time with in the youth system before being promoted to the first team.
Bellerin also spent time in the Barcelona youth system, which fueled rumors that he may possibly return to Spain.
However, the defender revealed that his heart lies with Arsenal.
It was reported by The Sun earlier this week that Bellerin’s new contract with see his wages rise from £15,000 to £45,000 per week.
