2. Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
Mariota is no longer the clear frontrunner to win the Heisman since the Ducks suffered their first loss of the season to Arizona. The quarterback continued to endure a poor offensive line as he was sacked seven times, and he fumbled the ball twice while losing it both times. This includes a fumble that occurred on the final Oregon drive when they were attempting to tie the score and get back in the game.
Losing two fumbles and a game inevitably puts a stain on Mariota’s Heisman campaign, and he was held to just one rushing yard. His individual performance against the Wildcats was solid overall though as he threw for 276 yards and two touchdown passes with no interceptions. The Oregon quarterback has yet to throw an interception this season and has pinpoint accuracy.
Stats: 1,411 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 71.1 completion percentage; 42 carries, 215 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns
