Cha-ching! Olivier Giroud has just cashed in on three years of stardom at Emirates Stadium. Will he outscore Alexis Sanchez this year?
Arsenal have locked up star striker Olivier Giroud on a brand new deal that will keep him at Emirates Stadium for a long time – and quite wealthy as well.
According to the Metro, Arsenal have given Giroud a new three-year, £130,000-a-week contract as a reward for finishing with 14 league goals during the 2014-15 season. The deal makes Giroud one of the Gunners’ highest-paid players heading into the season.
Arsenal acquired the 28-year-old French star on a £9.6 million transfer from Montpellier in 2012. Giroud has recorded double-digit goals in each of the last eight seasons and has scored at least 20 in three of them. In 97 league appearances for Arsenal, Girioud has 41 goals. He was named the Premier League Player of the Month back in March and scored the final goal in Arsenal’s dominating 4-0 win over Aston Villa in the 2015 FA Cup Final.
