Liverpool experienced a major loss when they sold star midfielder Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for £49m earlier this month
But Reds prospect Jordon Ibe is confident that he can fill Sterling’s shoes at Anfield, according to The Express.
“He’s a good player, I’m happy for him, but it’s a chance for me to prove myself to the gaffer and hopefully I can get a chance to play in the Premier League,” Ibe said on replacing Sterling.
The 19-year-old winger has a lot to prove, as he only made 14 appearances for the Reds last season.
Despite his limited role at Liverpool, Ibe was able to gain experience with Derby County as he played with them on a loan deal in which he scored five goals in 20 appearances.
Sterling will be difficult to replace as he scored 16 goals in the past two seasons, although his displeasure at Anfield became a detriment to the team’s morale.
