The Red Giants are tipped to be a major threat by the Kelantan coach
Kelantan coach Bojan Hodak revealed he will keep a close eye on Selangor FA during the Malaysia Cup.
After failing in their efforts to complete a second consecutive treble, finishing fourth in the Super League, the Golden Deers could still end the season with two trophies in their cabinet after retaining the FA Cup.
Successfully defending the M-Cup is another matter and, although they are down as favourites to triumph in the tournament, Croatian-born Hodak isn’t counting his chickens just yet and believes Selangor pose a serious threat to their chances, also pinpointing Johor Darul Takzim as serious contenders.
“Selangor have the best team. They have a well balanced side … good defence, good midfield and have a good attack,” Bojan Hodak told sports247
“On the other hand Darul Takzim have good individual players but lack a potent attack and this makes a lot of difference. But this is the Malaysia Cup, and anything can happen so you may just see some upsets along the way.”
Malaysia’s oldest football competition kicks off on August 20 with Kelantan drawn in Group C alongside Terengganu, Pahang and relegated Negri Sembilan.
