Dynamo in talks to sign Olimpia midfielder.
Houston Dynamo club president Chris Canetti has confirmed that the Dynamo are in talks to sign Olimpia midfielder Alex López on a permanent basis, according to MLSsoccer.
The club had previously been in talks with Olimpia over López in the winter transfer window, but stopped short of making an offer for the 21 year-old. This time round Canetti feels confident he can get the deal over the line, although he was careful not to say anything definite.
“I can confirm that we are engaged in serious conversations with Olimpia and Alex López on a transfer to Houston,” Canetti said “A deal is not final, but we are hoping that the current process will result in one before the deadline. My sense is that this is headed in the right direction.”
Canetti will need to move things along if he wants to bring in a player the Olimpia fans have dubbed “The Honduran Maradona”, as the transfer window closes on Thursday.
If signed, Dynamo will have brought in a dynamic playmaker who can bolster the team’s attack. The 21 year-old previously impressed in CONCACAF Champions League game against the Dynamo last October, and the carrot of playing with his former teammate Boniek García may interest the youngster.
López would add competition to an already strong midfield in Houston with Garcia, Brad Davis, Ricardo Clark, Adam Moffat and Andrew Driver in regular first team rotation.
