The Houston Texans will look to recover from an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Cardinals as they face the Atlanta Falcons in their next match.
The Houston Texans looked like a team with the first overall pick in the draft when they were shut out 32-0 by the Arizona Cardinals in their preseason opener. They will be determined to recover as they face the Atlanta Falcons Saturday.
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick did nothing to assure fans that he can be a reliable starter after throwing two interceptions and finishing with an abysmal 14.6 passer rating. Case Keenum and Tom Savage did not look much better.
The secondary will also need to perform much better after being torched. The pass rush looked promising as expected though with defensive end J.J. Watt recording a sack and outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney pushing running back Stepfan Taylor back five yards on a play.
The Falcons received a flawless performance from quarterback Matt Ryan in his limited action. The backups did not perform so well though, but T.J. Yates appears to be on track for the primary backup role.
Their offensive line looked much better as it didn’t allow a single sack against the Dolphins. Running back Devonta Freeman looked great too as he rushed for 50 yards on 10 carries and caught a 57-yard pass.
Rookie linebacker Pat Shembo also made some noise with a sack, so he may be in line for immediate playing time in the regular season.
