Broncos QB Peyton Manning faces off against the Houston Texans in what will be his last preseason game before the home opener against the Colts.
The Denver Broncos host the Houston Texans in a Saturday night preseason matchup between the best team in the AFC versus the worst team in the NFL.
The Denver Broncos and their offense, which smothered the high-powered San Francisco 49ers 34-0 last Sunday, will play their final first-team snaps of the preseason against the Texans before sitting out the final preseason game.
Broncos QB Peyton Manning will likely play the first half and then let the backups takeover for the entire second half. He has had only 5 total incompletions in two games against the defending Superbowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the other NFC Championship team, the San Francisco 49ers.
The Houston Texans have determined that journeyman QB Ryan Fitzpatrick would be their definitive starter and only recently saw the return of former Pro Bowlers WR Andre Johnson, RB Arian Foster and LB Brian Cushing. Those three players, who the team sorely missed in 2013 en route to an NFL-worst 2-14 record, are unlikely to play any significant time. DE Jadeveon Clowney, who the team drafted No. 1 overall, is also expected to miss the game as he recovers from a practice injury.
Prediciton: Broncos – Denver has pulverized the two best teams in the NFC with only limited reps for Peyton Manning. It’s scary to imagine what he can do to the NFL’s worst team in an entire half.
