Wenger has had his eyes on this Frenchman for some time and with an exodus beginning to unravel at Southampton, this could be the ideal time to swoop for the midfielder.
The boss wants more defensive solidity in the centre of the park – something Mikel Arteta has failed to provide – and Schneiderlin could be just the player to bring that to the team.
