Gerard Houllier (1998-2004)
A somewhat strange appointment as manager at the time, but only because Roy Evans was still boss when he arrived!
The two were expected work in tandem to try and save Liverpool’s season but ultimately Evans ended up resigning.
Houllier was in charge during an important period of overhaul at the club which saw him break up the cliques of the dressing room that had a reputation for trouble before promoting youth and signing some now well known stars.
