Central midfield
Moving further forward and again there are problems, with creativity being stifled in central midfield by what is perceived as a bunch of underachieving players.
Michael Carrick possesses the talent required and perhaps had too much pressure put on him last term, whilst offloading Marouane Fellaini and making back their £27.5m looks unlikely and Darren Fletcher is still in the rehabilitation process.
Tom Cleverley therefore looks like the sacrificial lamb – although prefers to think of himself as the scapegoat – and replacing the Englishman with Kevin Strootman of AS Roma would be a great step up, as reports the Mirror.
