This really would be a dream signing, but it’s not out of the realms of possibility. With Nemanja Vidic leaving, Rio Ferdinand way past it, and doubts raised over the long-term suitability of Chris Smalling, a new centre-back is a priority. Hummels is superb aerially, and composed in possession, but the Red Devils may have to fend off the interest of Barcelona and Juventus to secure him.
