The German World Cup winner has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal desperately seeks to sign a world-class defender.

And while Hummels is “honoured” to have been touted as a Red Devils target, he has revealed that he does not feel ready to leave Dortmund, where he has recently been made club captain.
“There have always been rumours about almost every one of our players, but I decided not to make the move this year,” Sky Sports quote him as saying.
“Of course when the big clubs are interested, and Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s an honour. But I decided I wanted to stay here.”
United are actively pursuing a deal for Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos and may have Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi in mind as back-up now that they know a move for Hummels is off the table.
