Bacary Sagna to join Per Mertesacker and Arsene Wenger in signing new Arsenal contracts.
Arsene Wenger, Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna are all set to sign contract extensions to stay at Arsenal, reports the Daily Star.
The newspaper claim that Gunners manager Wenger and his central defensive stalwart Mertesacker have already agreed their deals, but that the club is waiting for Sagna to put pen to paper in order to announce all three at once.
French right back Sagna has been a rock in the Arsenal back four since he moved to the north London club in 2007, but his contract expires at the end of the current season, and it is only recently that trepidation surrounding his future has begun to turn into optimism.
There is now real hope of a breakthrough in negotiations, and despite receiving offers of huge wages from the likes of Galatasaray, Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Sagna could remain at Emirates Stadium after all.
Last season, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson all signed new Arsenal contracts simultaneously, with Theo Walcott soon following in committing his future to the Gunners.
If Wenger, Mertesacker and Sagna do the same, it will be a massive boost for the Premier League leaders.
