Slugger Giancarlo Stanton has reportedly agreed to a record 13-year £207 million deal contract with the Miami Marlins, according to US media.
Yahoo Sports reports the deal to be the biggest in sports history.
The 25-year-old finished runner-up to pitcher Clayton Kershaw National League MVP honours after a superb 2014 Major League Baseball season, which included a league best 37 home runs.
“Giancarlo Stanton has come of age, and he’s going to be here a long time,” Marlins’ owner Jeffrey Loria told ESPN.com.
“It’s wonderful to have a young man of this calibre, integrity and ability, and I’m very happy.”
MLB.com report the deal could be made official on Wednesday.
The contract will also include a no-trade clause, and an opt-out clause after six seasons.
Stanton was due to become eligible for free agency before the start of the 2017 season.
