Arsenal are reportedly ready to hijack Liverpool’s attempts to sign Marco Reus.
Brendan Rodgers is believed to want the Borussia Dortmund playmaker to complete his summer transfer spending, which continued with the £32.5m signing of Christian Benteke on Thursday.
Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri claims that the Reds are “working intensely” on a deal for the Germany international, who missed their 2014 World Cup triumph through injury.
Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have also been linked with Reus, but he is said to favour a move to Real Madrid should he leave Dortmund during this window.
However, Tuttomercatoweb claims that Arsenal will try to persuade the 24-year-old, valued at upwards of £40m, to move to the Emirates Stadium if they learn that he is available to Liverpool.
Reus has scored 49 goals in 11 games for Dortmund since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012.
