Mercurial Uruguay forward shows remorse following shocking incident in previous campaign.
Controversial Liverpool front man Luis Suarez has admitted for the very first time that he “completely lost it” when biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield at the back end of the last Premier League season, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Uruguay international was hit with a whopping ten-game ban by The Football Association for his actions, six matches of which are still to be served by the striker in the upcoming campaign.
And now the 26-year-old, who is currently back home in his native Uruguay, has spoken publicly for the very time about the event, saying: “The incident with Ivanovic – I know I made a mistake, it was me, my fault, and he did not do anything to me.
“I was angry because I had given away a penalty for hand ball. I was the cause of the penalty against my team – I saw red and completely lost it. I can’t really explain it and I am so sorry.”
There is still mounting speculation on Merseyside that the deadly attacker may have played his final match for the Reds, with rumours recently gathering pace that Suarez could be set for a big-money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer after netting an impressive 30 goals in 44 matches for Liverpool last season.
