The 21-year-old has scored twice in 20 appearances this season and his consistently strong performances have reportedly caught the attention of United, while The Daily Mirror says both Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested in the 1-cap Portugal international.
Carvalho has four years left on his current deal at Sporting and has a £37.5m buyout clause.
“It’s nice being praised and to know there are some big clubs interested in me,” Carvalho said.
Asked about his future, he added: “It could be Manchester United or Real Madrid. It’s just nice to have a great European club after me, but at the moment I’m just totally focused on Sporting and doing my best until the end of the season.
“At the end of the campaign, we will see what happens.”
Six-foot-one-inch Carvalho is a holding midfield player who can also operate at centre half.
The youngster made a hugely impressive debut in Portugal’s World Cup play-off second leg win over Sweden in Stockholm, emerging from the bench on 73 minutes, immediately after the hosts had gone 2-1 up.
With Carvalho protecting the back four, the Swedish attacking threat soon died up and Portugal went on to score two more through Cristiano Ronaldo, sealing a 4-2 aggregate win.
Under-pressure Manchester United boss David Moyes will reportedly be handed a huge transfer kitty in the summer, with The Daily Mail claiming the Scot has £200m to spend to rebuild his struggling squad.
The Red Devils are in need of new blood at centre midfield, where Moyes has started 40-year-old Ryan Giggs on seven occasions so far this season.
