Teammates in Belgium, Vincent Kompany hopes his international partner Eden Hazard takes the weekend off.
Man City star Vincent Kompany is downright scared of Chelsea midfielder superstar Eden Hazard, going so far as to wish his Belgian teammate suffers bowel trouble ahead of their weekend matchup.
In an interview with a Belgian newspaper translated by The Mirror, Kompany said that Hazard’s impact on Chelsea’s roster is incredible and hopes the reigning Premier League Player of the Year gets diarrhea ahead of the matchup between the last two Premier League winners.
“You’d almost hope that Eden Hazard would have diarrhoea,” Kompany jokingly said. “Now let’s be serious, you can’t underestimate the impact he has on Chelsea. You’ll expect he would have a dip in his performance level.
“Last week, against Swansea, he maybe didn’t play his best first half, but when they were reduced to 10 men, he was the only one who was dangerous. Because he ran past three-four defenders.”
The 29-year-old Kompany has 205 appearances for Man City since 2008 and 60 caps for the Belgian national team since 2004. The 24-year-old Hazard has made 57 caps for Belgium since 2008 and 37 goals for Chelsea since 2012.
