Marko Arnautovic reveals he misplaced Samuel Eto’o’s Bentley.
Stoke City forward Marko Arnautovic has revealed he lost a Bentley owned by Chelsea’s Samuel Eto’o when the duo were teammates at Inter Milan.
Arnautovic, 24, joined Stoke from Weder Bremen this summer but spent the 2009/10 season on loan at the San Siro, during the Nerazzurri’s historic Scudetto and Champions League winning campaign under Jose Mourinho.
The Austrian forward made just three Serie A appearances for the club and did not play a single minute in the Champions League, with Mourinho describing him as a ‘fantastic person but with the attitude of a child’.
And Arnautovic’s latest revelation will do little to counter the Portuguese’s claims, with the forward admitting that he once lost Eto’o’s car.
“I had just passed my driving licence and said to Sam that I wanted to buy a car. He said ‘Don’t buy a car, I’ll give you one of mine’. He brought me a Bentley and I was very happy with that. I was driving into the city every day and was getting it washed all the time and keeping it nice,” the Austrian told The Daily Telegraph.
“He asked me to look after it but one day I went to the restaurant for 45 minutes. After I’d finished, the car was not there and at first I thought it had been removed for bad parking. I was shocked, I was crying and throwing up, I was really scared.
“I called Sam and told him the car had been taken but he was really nice to me. He said it wasn’t my fault but I was calling him day and night to say sorry. I must have called him 100 times.
“When I went to [Werder] Bremen I got a call to say they had found the car. I was worried Eto’o thought I might have asked somebody to take it for me so that was a big relief. When I see him at Chelsea this season we will have a laugh about it – I hope!”
