Brazil forward was officially unveiled by Barca on Monday.
New FC Barcelona signing Neymar has spoken of his sheer excitement about the prospect of playing alongside the world’s greatest player at Camp Nou as of next season, reports the Daily Mirror.
The highly-rated young Brazil international finally put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Liga giants on Monday worth a staggering £49 million after years of speculation linking the playmaker with a move to Barca.
And having been paraded in front of his new adoring fans in Catalonia, the 21-year-old then spoke about why exactly he had opted to join the Spanish champions ahead of the likes of fellow Liga giants Real Madrid, as well as big-spending Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City.
“The thrill of being cheered when I entered the Nou Camp … it was hard not to cry. My dream has come true,” Neyamr told fcbarcelona.es.
“I’ve never worried about being the best in the world. The best is already here and that’s Messi.
“I’m one of the luckiest men in the world to be able to play with him and it’s an honour. I’m very happy to be realising my life’s dream.
“To have the opportunity to play with great players I admire like Messi, Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta … I’ve begun a new stage of my life and I’m going to be very happy and achieve a lot.”
Neymar had featured in 225 matches for previous club Santos since making his debut for the Brazilian giants in 2009, during which time the attacker managed to find the back of the net on 136 occasions.
