Dutch goalkeeper set for Craven Cottage switch.
Roma’s sporting director Franco Baldini says Fulham have signed goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg but the Italian denied he is in talks with Tottenham.
Baldini has been strongly tipped to be appointed Spurs new technical director but when asked if he was in England for talks with the north London outfit, the 50-year-old revealed a different reason for his visit.
“I went to London for the sale of Stekelenburg at Fulham,” he told Corriere dello Sport.
“There were questions to be answered, but I closed a deal subject to the usual conditions.”
Fulham have long been linked with the Dutch international, who almost joined the Cottagers in January.
Stekelenburg will link-up again with Fulham boss Martin Jol, who managed the 30-year-old during his season-long spell in charge of Ajax. The west London outfit will reportedly pay around £4m for the Dutchman, who made 19 Serie A appearances for Roma this term.
Spurs, meanwhile, reportedly remain interested in Baldini.
