Man United already have arguably the strongest midfield in football, but they’re still looking for more and just had a bid for yet another midfielder rejected while seemingly sitting on their hands with regards to a striker.
According to Soccer Lens, Borussia Dortmund have rejected a surprise bid from Man United for midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. The 24-year-old German star has also been a target of Bayern Munich and Juventus this summer.
The news that Man United have already made a new bid for a midfielder should be doubly shocking due to the fact that the team hasn’t made a qualifying bid on any major striker yet.
Despite rumors that the Red Devils have been chasing the likes of Thomas Muller and Real Madrid scoring machines Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, there hasn’t been any serious headway made – publicly at least.
Ilkay Gundogan isn’t even a midfield scoring threat the way the versatile Pedro would have been, recording only 9 goals in his last 80 matches for Borussia Dortmund.
