Veteran impresses during training session with Inter first-team.
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash lived up to his promise and trained with Inter ahead of their International Champions Cup debut in the USA.
The 39-year-old is an avid football fan and also has part ownership of the Vancouver Whitecaps, but he was able to play out a dream of his by taking part in a training session with the Nerazzurri and have a “try-out” of sorts.
Nash is currently working his way back to full fitness ahead of the new NBA season, and would have used the training session as a way of continuing his rehabilitation from injury.
After being put through a few drills and one-on-one situations, Nash played on a three-quarter length pitch and was handed the opportunity to showcase his skill and ability to play football.
He didn’t disappoint according to onlookers, as he slotted in well amongst Walter Mazzarri’s players before taking time to talk to both the coach and his troops.

“It was a really fun day for me. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning because my dream came true. Playing beside Esteban Cambiasso was fantastic.
“He gave me advice and we exchanged a few passes. Did I suffer in the heat? Yes, a lot. And the speed of the game that Inter play is much faster than it is in the charity games my foundation puts on in Chinatown,” stated the NBA star as reported on the official Inter site.
Cambiasso was similarly thrilled by the chance to play alongside Nash, stating that “training with him was a special moment”.
It was also suggested that the Argentinian may take to the basketball court next, after being quizzed on whether he was better on the hardwood or Nash was better on the football pitch, he responded by suggesting that the American should invite him to play basketball sometime.
