Pacquiao is deep in training camp ahead of his super-fight on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and the legendary fighter has been keeping fans updated with his sessions through regular Instagram posts.
However, he took a break in the gym on Wednesday as Golovkin wanted to see for himself how he was progressing, and he wished him good luck for his upcoming bout.
‘GGG’ was in town for a press conference for his next fight which will be against Willie Monroe Jr in California on May 16.
While the middleweight knockout specialist continues to clean up his own division, he will join the rest of the world two weeks ahead of his own fight to watch the biggest bout in boxing history with Mayweather vs Pacquiao expected to shatter records for revenue.
Members from both the Mayweather and Pacquiao camps have been exchanging words through the media, and it is all building up the anticipation of what will be a special night for the sport.
Golovkin will be hoping to continue to play his role in the re-emergence of boxing in the mainstream, and he insists that he wants a unification bout with Miguel Cotto later this year after he deals with his next opponent.
Whether or not he is granted his wish remains to be seen though, as the Puerto Rican has avoided the fight so far with Monroe Jr confident that he can be the man to inflict a first defeat on the Kazakh star.
