Removing some of the letters from the Spanish midfielder’s surname, the fan was able to change ‘Fabregas’ simply to ‘BFG’, a reference to a nickname of German centre-back Per Mertesacker, who inherited the number four shirt at Arsenal from Fabregas in the same year he left for Barcelona.
Now back in the Premier League with Chelsea, it is little surprise to see that Gunners supporters feel bitter about their former captain as he closes in on winning the title with the Blues in his first season back in London, something he never managed to do in his career at the Emirates Stadium.
