Avoiding relegation and Sheffield United controversy
On the final day of the 2006/07 Premier League season West Ham were facing the drop and needed some unlikely victories to stay up.
First off fellow candidates for the drop Sheffield United had to lose at home to Wigan and also a victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford was required.
In an unlikely and dramatic twist the Blades slipped up 1-2 to the Latics whilst a Tevez strike ensured a 0-1 victory and Hammers celebration.
Later, issues over whether the Argentine was actually registered properly meant West Ham had to pay the Blades £20m, but the striker was still a hero in east London.
