Lillard was left out of the travelling party for the FIBA World Cup in Spain…
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard hit back at a hater on Twitter after he was mocked following his cut from the Team USA roster.
Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, he failed to make the final 12-man roster for the FIBA World Cup in Spain next week, and will spend the summer preparing for the new NBA season at home instead.
With the likes of Kyrie Irving, Derrick Rose and Stephen Curry being preferred, Lillard appeared to take the news well, conceding that there is a “lot of great players on one roster”, and competition essentially saw him miss out.
In addition, he jokingly hit back at a Twitter troll who aimed a sideswipe at him for failing to make the team.
Lillard didn’t play on Friday in the win over Puerto Rico, and someone thought it might be a clever idea to taunt him over it. Thankfully he did, as we would never have had the opportunity to read the response and appreciate the guard’s ability to interact and showcase his sense of humour…
“@Vin_Lee_: @Dame_Lillard we played the same amount of mins today bro” did we make the same amount of money today too?
