Date yet to announced, but fight will take place at the Echo Arena in Liverpool…
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has announced that Tony Bellew and Nathan Cleverly will do battle for a second time with a press conference scheduled for next Wednesday.
Following on from their initial bout back in 2011, there is genuine bad blood between the pair as they have swapped verbals ever since.
Both have since moved up to the cruiserweight division with the winner expected to fight for a world title next, but ultimately that will be of secondary importance to the duo at this stage as Bellew seeks revenge while Cleverly will want a repeat of his win the first time round.
Bellew has publicly admitted that he wants to knock Cleverly out, and it all dates back to what he described as complete disrespect and breaking of a promise of a rematch after their first fight.
Meanwhile, Cleverly also insists that the fight will not go the distance this time round after his points victory last time out, and so there are likely to be fireworks when they meet in the ring.
While Hearn did not reveal a date or the undercard for the night, it will take place at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on either November 22 or 29, with the pre-fight build-up expected to be electric as both men undoubtedly can’t wait to get in the ring and go to war.
Although it falls short of the magnitude of the Carl Froch-George Groves rematch, given the real dislike between the pair, it is more than likely that this will be another successful and highly entertaining night for British boxing.
