Man City win Barclays Asia trophy, and Dzeko snaps up best player award…
Manchester City beat Sunderland 1-0 in the final of the Barclays Asia trophy pre-season friendly tournament, and Edin Dzeko was voted player of the tournament for a goal in each of the matches.
The Bosnian forward scored a brilliant volley in the final which ended up being decisive. He also blazed a penalty over the bar, which would have been his third goal of the tournament after netting in the semi-final against South China.
Dzeko will no doubt be over the moon at impressing his new manager, who has brought in Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo to challenge for the striker spot.
Manchester City will now travel back to Europe for their final pre-season preparations, before Manuel Pellegrini’s first official game in charge at home to Newcastle on August 19.
