The Rockets defeated the Cavs 105-103 in a thrilling overtime game on Sunday with Harden scoring 33 points as he went back-and-forth with LeBron James.
Cleveland’s star forward posted 37 points, but two missed clutch free throws with just seconds remaining in overtime and it cost the visitors dearly as James was left to rue his missed opportunity.
Meanwhile, there was also a scuffle between the pair as Harden was assessed a flagrant foul after kicking James in the groin, but they got back to basketball thereafter and put on a show for the national TV audience.
However, the Rockets made a bold statement after the game as they believe there’s a new King in town, although James and his two championships and multiple MVP awards will undoubtedly have something to say about it.
The pair are involved in the MVP race again this season along with Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, but while he put up 37 points on Sunday night too, it promises to be a thrilling final stretch of the regular season before the best of the bunch is finally crowned.
