Rookie jokingly pursuing James to join him in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia 76ers rookie Joel Embiid has blocked Miami Heat star LeBron James on Twitter after the latter ignored his pitch to join him in Philly ahead of next season.
While the 20-year-old is jokingly pursuing the two-time NBA champion, it has been a few days since his pitch to James to sign with Philadelphia and unsurprisingly he hasn’t heard back from the Heat superstar.
Having previously joked about whether or not he would get himself into trouble with the NBA over tweeting James and asking him to join his team, Embiid began his pursuit on July 1 with a tweet that read: “@KingJames hey bro hope you’re having a good day…Want to join us in philly? Peace”.
James is currently in the process of deciding on his future after opting out of his contract with the Heat, and the latest speculation suggests that he is demanding a max contract which would put pressure on Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to take drastic pay cuts in order to allow the Heat to strengthen the roster.
However, it appears as though Embiid has taken rejection hard and has felt the need to block his rival, although it is all of course just tongue in cheek and has undoubtedly provided his followers with a laugh or two.
He probably DM'd me but I dont read my DMs so I'm gonna go ahead and block him pic.twitter.com/PunjHSiQRI
