Socceroos skipper was playing in his second match for the J-League club.
Usually, the custom that follows a hard fought victory in football is for the triumphant team to commence frenzied celebrations as the defeat team trudges back to the dressing room.
But, judging by the image attached to his commemorative tweet, Lucas Neill morose expression suggests he’s just been on the end of a thorough pasting – not a player who has just played a crucial role helping his new team to end an eight match losing streak and register a rare clean sheet against J-League leaders Yokohama F. Marinos.
After all, this was only the 35-year-old’s second game for Omiya Ardija and his first win in a Squirrels shirt so there is no reason to really smile is there?…
Great win v Yokohama last night, well done boys. I love 1-0 wins!! Back to winning ways #OmiyaArdija pic.twitter.com/a9Yo8HoFSr
