Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil poses with Gunners transfer target and team-mates after impressive Germany victory over the Republic of Ireland.
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil played a fine part in Germany’s 3-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland, starting in a false nine role due to the national side’s striker crisis.
The 24 year-old Ozil scored a goal late in the game after being put through by Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos, and his clever movement was constantly difficult for the Irish defence to track.
Watching from the bench was FC Schalke 04 starlet Julian Draxler, who is considered one of the next stars of die Mannschaft.
Draxler has been heavily linked with a transfer to both Arsenal and Chelsea over the last year or so, with 13 goals and seven assists in his 39 Schalke matches last season as a teenager, and with three goals and three assists in 12 appearances in the current campaign, he continues to improve.
Draxler also gave a major hint he was hoping for a transfer to a major team soon with an interview to German newspaper Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger, with Arsenal mentioned by name.
After the game, Ozil posted a picture to social network Instagram alongside Draxler on the team coach, with fellow Germany stars Max Kruse, Sami Khedira and Jerome Boateng.
