Fabricio Coloccini, Newcastle’s 31-year-old Argentinian captain, was shockingly sent off in the 37th minute off a 1-1 draw with Pacos Ferreira.

Alan Pardew claimed that players were frustrated at the referee letting tackles go unpunished, but there can be no excuse for his captain’s actions – especially in a pre-season friendly.
