Former Red Devils striker Danny elbeck came back to haunt his former club in Monday’s night’s FA Cup quarter final, but far from being useful for just one game, stats are now showing that Louis Van Gaal was hasty in getting rid of the England international last summer.

Leaving Old Trafford for £16m, Welbeck was waved off with a few chuckles and not a lot of warmth from his former supporters, as the arrival of Radamel Falcao seemed to signal a turning of the tide.
However, this has not proved to be so prophetic, as the expensive Colombian has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League, and though Welbeck has hardly set the scoring charts alight, he has proved to be the most prudential purchase.
Not only has the England striker scored more goals, he’s also had more shots and created far more chances. The only area in which Falcao has bested him is in assists.
