NFL running back Ray Rice has become the center of controversy in the football world, due to a video leak of him punching his wife in an elevator.
This marked a big development in the controversy since Rice had initially been suspended for only two games and had full support from the Baltimore Ravens.
The release of this video caused the release of Rice from the Ravens, and the NFL suspended him indefinitely. It will be difficult for the running back to ever return to playing football since he may eventually face criminal charges.
The NFL is expected to endure controversy as well since a report surfaced that they had seen the video of Rice punching his wife in April, which was several months before the general public was able to see it.
On Wednesday night, the league announced that the FBI will launch an independent investigation to figure out the Rice incident, and two NFL owners will oversee the investigation along with former FBI director Robert S. Mueller III.
John Mara and Art Rooney, who respectively own the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers, are both attorneys.
