Spurs forward included in Chris Coleman’s squad for match at Cardiff City Stadium.
Tottenham forward Gareth Bale has been included in the Wales squad for the friendly with the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday 14 August, despite missing the majority of Spurs pre-season matches through injury.
The 24-year-old reportedly wants to leave Spurs for Real Madrid and is thought to have informed the London club of his decision during last month’s pre-season tour of Hong Kong. A muscle injury kept Bale out of both Spurs’ Barclays Asia Trophy matches, while the Welshman missed Saturday’s friendly in Monaco with a reported foot complaint.
Speculation has been rife that Bale is reluctant to play for Spurs and risk jepordasing his move to the Spanish capital.
Clearly, Wales boss Chris Coleman believes Bale is fit enough to feature next Wednesday. While that gives the player a full week to “recover”, it’s fair to assume that Spurs’ friendly with Espanyol on Saturday could be massive indicator of where Bale’s future lies.
If he plays, perhaps the various injuries were entirely legit.
If he fails to appear once again, speculation will only increase that he has played his last match for the Lilywhites.
