Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu has a fractured left thumb, and his injury may require surgery. Mathieu had his thumb injured in the Cardinals’ 29-18 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Running back Andre Ellington and left tackle Jared Veldheer were also key players who sustained injuries for the Cardinals.
Due to the potential severity of his thumb injury, Mathieu may be forced to go through surgery and miss three weeks. If he is more fortunate, the former LSU cornerback may be able to play through pain as he long as he wears a cast on his thumb.
Here is a tweet from Arizona Cardinals reporter Darren Urban updating on the Cardinals’ injuries.
Arians: Mathieu worst case scenario: pin and out 3 weeks. But could cast and play. Still TBD. Veldheer has an ankle sprain, status TBD.
