Arizona Cardinals DB Tyrann Mathieu expects to play in Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks after missing several weeks of play with a thumb injury.
“I wasn’t going to miss this one,” Tyrann Mathieu said Monday, per the team’s official website. “I didn’t want to miss the last two.”
Mathieu practiced on Monday with a cast on the broken left thumb that caused him to miss the past two games.
The 2nd-year DB who was a Heisman trophy candidate back in college and a runner up for Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 made a slow return this season coming off ACL surgery before suffering the thumb injury.
Mathieu admitted he might not be intercepting many passes due to the bulky cast he’ll wear.
The Cardinals will need all the help on defense they can get as they will likely not get a ton on offense. Due to injuries to backup QB Drew Stanton, the Cardinals will be forced to turn to 3rd string QB Ryan Lindley in their Week 16 game against the Seattle Seahawks to decide who represents the NFC West in the NFL playoffs.
