No.2 draft pick Christian Petracca will miss the entire 2015 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Melbourne Demons training on Monday.
“Christian had an incident today (Monday) at training, which involved twisting his knee,” Demons football manager Josh Mahoney told the club’s website.
“Unfortunately scans today confirmed a rupture of the ACL in his left knee.
“This is devastating news for Christian and the club, as he was preparing for the season ahead.
“He’ll meet surgeons tonight and have the appropriate surgery to repair the ACL as soon as possible.”
Petracca took to Twitter to thank Demons fans for their support.
“Thanks everyone for the messages and I appreciate the support,” he tweeted.
“Looking forward to starting rehab n getting back on track. I’ll be back.”
