South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy has been ruled out of his side’s one day international series in Australia.
Duminy has been advised to rest after a knee injury resurfaced during the Twenty20 series which ended on Sunday.
Farhaan Behardien will stay on as Duminy’s replacement, while paceman Marchant de Lange has been added to the squad.
“This is the same injury that plagued him during the tri-series in Zimbabwe and caused him to miss the Champions League T20,” South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee said.
“The recommendation from the medical committee is that he returns back to South Africa for a six-week period of rest and rehabilitation, particularly ahead of a busy season at home and the ICC World Cup in three months.”
South Africa head into the five-match ODI schedule off the back of a 2-1 T20 series loss to the Australians.
