Walker suffered the injury during the Rabbitohs’ 20-6 win over Wests Tigers and scored two tries despite breaking his hand just 10 minutes into the game.
Rabbitohs doctor Andrew McDonald revealed that the 20-year-old would likely need a plate inserted into his hand.
“Dylan Walker has a fractured third metacarpal, he’ll see a surgeon this afternoon and it looks like he’ll need a plate,” McDonald is quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.
“He’ll be back in around three or four weeks.”
The defending NRL premiers face the Parramatta Eels on Friday at Pirtek Stadium.
