Bears Lions preview
The Chicago Bears defense has not improved as expected despite the team signing three free-agent defensive ends in a busy offseason.
The Bears were expected to challenge the Green Bay Packers for an NFC North title, but they now appear to be headed for a last-place finish while ranking dead last in scoring defense with 28.6 points allowed per game.
Defensive end Lamarr Houston suffered a season-ending ACL injury, and fellow defensive end Willie Young will be joining him on injured reserve with a torn Achilles.
Despite being the most low-profile signing of the Bears’ free agency spending spree, Young proved to be a bargain signing as he had 10 sacks. He had signed with the Bears for three years and $9 million.
The official Chicago Bears Twitter account announced the team’s latest injury.
#Bears have placed DE Willie Young on injured reserve and re-signed DE Austen Lane, who spent preseason w/ team.
