The Patriots are shutting down the rookie DL they drafted in the first round of the 2014 draft for the season due to a knee injury.
DL Dominique Easley is officially headed to injured reserve, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. The slow start to Easley’s career is not be viewed as a big surprise for some. He dropped to No. 29 in the 2014 NFL draft because he was coming off a torn ACL in his final year at Florida. He had suffered torn ACLs in both knees during his career as a Gator.
Easley was rather unproductive for most of the season and made some of big impact plays later in the year, but was primarily a rotation player.
In 11 games played in 2014, Easley has just nine tackles, 1.0 sack, an INT and two starts.
