The New England Patriots are tied with the Buffalo Bills, 7-7, in the second quarter. Their season has been a mostly slow start until a statement win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, the Patriots defense took a major hit as inside linebacker Jerod Mayo was taken out of the game with a knee injury, and he will not return.
This is devastating to the Patriots since fellow starting inside linebacker Dont’a Hightower is already out. Mayo was carted off the field, so the injury is likely serious.
Here is a tweet from NFL Network national reporter Albert Breer reporting on Mayo’s gruesome injury.
Patriots LB Jerod Mayo down. Teammates around him. Doesn’t look good.
