The New Orleans Saints will be without arguably their best new pass catcher for several weeks. Rookie WR Brandin Cooks will be out for the next 2 to 4 weeks with a broken thumb he suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Cooks has been the Saints’ top wide receiver this season, with 53 catches for 550 yards and three touchdowns – second on the team only to TE Jimmy Graham in all three categories. Now they’ll be without him for at least the next two games, against the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, and possibly two games beyond that, against the Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears.
The Saints drafted Cooks with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft after he led the NCAA in receiving yards in 2013. He had the fastest 40-time at the NFL combine among WRs.
