The pair were injured during Arsenal’s 2-1 loss against Manchester United on Saturday, and although neither injury is as bad as first expected, both will miss the midweek game against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Wilshere has some soft tissue damage on his ankle, and could face a short spell on the sidelines, while Szczesny sprained his hip in a collision with Kieran Gibbs.
The English midfielder has been in excellent form as of late, so will naturally be a huge loss to Arsene Wenger. His Polish teammate may be an even bigger loss however, with summer signing and second choice shot-stopper David Ospina also injured.
This will mean 22-year-old Damian Martinez will be in between the sticks once again, and while he has shown promise at times, he has also put on a number of less than convincing displays.
