The San Francisco 49ers received a major dent in their quest to return to the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season as they lost, 24-13, to the Oakland Raiders.
This dropped their record to 7-6, and they are stuck in third place in a competitive NFC West. This may be why they seem to have conceded that their playoff hopes are all but over. They have to win out and receive help from other teams, but they have to face the Seattle Seahawks on the road next.
Inside linebacker Navorro Bowman has missed the entire season with a knee injury that he suffered in the NFC Championship, and defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey has missed the season with a torn biceps injury.
The 49ers have placed each of them on injured reserve, effectively ending their 2014 seasons.
Here is a tweet from FOX Sports 1 NFL insider Mike Garafolo reporting on the 49ers’ ongoing injury woes.
