Serie A giants pull out of race for Argentine ace.
Italian side Inter Milan have apparently pulled out of the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela after giving up hope of prizing him away from White Heart Lane, according to the Daily Star.
The Nerazzurri were hoping to lure the Argentinian winger back to Serie A after Lamela’s dismal first season in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old made a club record £30m transfer to north London from Roma last summer, but managed to make just nine appearances for the club throughout the duration of the 2013/14 season.
Reports had been suggesting that Inter had been hoping to bring him back to the Italian top flight after his star turns for Roma had brought him to tottenham’s attentions in the first place, but they have now seemingly dropped out.
“Lamela is a dream that we haven’t been given a chance to realise,” Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said.
“Simply because Tottenham don’t want to put him in the market.”
Juventus had also apparently been keen on landing his signature, too.
However, new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is eager to give his compatriot a second chance to impress in the Premier League.
